Job Description
Adyen is seeking a Legal Counsel (Commercial) to join their global Commercial Legal team. This role is based in Tokyo and will support the Asia Pacific region. The candidate will work closely with Sales teams and internal partners on various topics, including contract negotiations, template drafting, and general commercial matters. Adyen is a financial technology platform that provides payments, data, and financial products in a single solution for customers like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft.

What this role involves:
  • Providing strategic legal advice across various commercial functions, primarily in Japan.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements.
  • Providing legal and commercial support in relation to existing contracts.
  • Assisting with localizing and improving standard form agreements and legal processes for the Japanese market.
  • Contributing to business and legal initiatives globally.
  • Building strong relationships with colleagues, leaders, and stakeholders.
  • Participating in training of sales and commercial colleagues across APAC.

Requirements:
  • Attorney in good standing in your local bar and registered to practice law in Japan.
  • At least five (5) years of legal experience advising on commercial matters.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Team player.
  • Fluent in English and Japanese, both written and spoken.
  • Available to work from our Tokyo office and travel to other offices periodically.
