Job Description

Spektrum is seeking a Senior FAS Technician to support key client projects, specifically the NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCIA). This role involves providing support for Flagship handovers for nations involved in the Standing Naval Forces (SNF's), which may include deployment to various geographical locations. The technician will install, configure, and set-to-work servers on board NATO flagships and be responsible for the day-to-day system administration of hardware and software.

The Senior FAS Technician will also execute preventive maintenance plans, ensure proper documentation, manage Configuration Control data, and provide technical guidance to other technicians. They will lead troubleshooting efforts, assist with system fault resolution, and perform beta testing of new software versions. Maintaining close communication with other technicians and engineers at CSU Northwood is essential.

Role Involves:

  • Supporting Flagship handovers, including potential deployment to geographical locations.
  • Installing, configuring, and setting-to-work servers on board NATO flagships.
  • Performing system administration of hardware and software.
  • Executing preventive maintenance plans.
  • Ensuring proper documentation and Configuration Control data management.
  • Leading troubleshooting efforts and assisting with system fault resolution.
  • Performing beta testing of new software versions.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in administering, testing, and deploying applications at both the server and user level.
  • At least 5 years of recent experience with functional applications within Windows and UNIX in a large-scale service-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of database principles, experience in database administration, and SQL.
  • Experience in Incident and Problem Management.
  • Experience working within a customer support environment.
  • Maritime C2 Systems training or experience.
  • Good working knowledge of IT hardware and auxiliary computer equipment.
  • Experience in Configuration Management and Service Asset Management.
  • Knowledge of current Windows and UNIX/LINUX operating systems and common Windows desktop applications.
  • Higher vocational training in a relevant discipline with 3 years post-related experience, or a secondary educational qualification with 5 years post-related experience.
  • Valid National or NATO Cosmic Top Secret personal security clearance.
