Job Description
PLOS, a non-profit organization dedicated to open science, is seeking a Senior Editor, Team Manager for Publication Ethics. This role involves contributing to team strategy, managing a cohort of staff, and taking ownership of specific aspects of the team's work. The Senior Editor will recruit, train, and develop team members, advise on case investigations, and lead publication ethics case decision-making.
Role Involves:
- Managing a team of Publication Ethics staff.
- Resolving publication ethics cases in line with PLOS standards and COPE guidance.
- Contributing to team strategy development and implementation.
- Participating in cross-functional initiatives and projects.
- Attending virtual COPE events and representing PLOS at external forums.
Requirements:
- Considerable expertise in peer review, editorial decision-making, and publication ethics case investigations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to lead a remote team.
- PhD in a scientific discipline or similar clinical qualification.
- Extensive experience investigating and resolving publication ethics issues in STM publishing.
