Job Description
PLOS, a non-profit organization dedicated to open science, is seeking a Senior Editor, Team Manager for a fixed-term contract. This role involves contributing to team strategy, managing a cohort of staff within the Publication Ethics team, and taking ownership of specific aspects of the team's work. The Senior Editor will recruit, train, and develop team members, advise on case investigations, and help lead publication ethics case decision-making.
The position is fully remote and offers the opportunity to contribute to internal and external communications, policy development, and cross-industry initiatives.
Responsibilities include:
- Resolving publication ethics cases efficiently.
- Contributing to team strategy development and implementation.
- Contributing to initiatives and projects addressing ethics and integrity needs.
- Contributing to internal discussions about publication ethics and research integrity.
- Maintaining awareness of cross-industry issues and initiatives.
- Assisting with recruitment and onboarding.
- Upholding high standards of professionalism.
Requirements include:
- Considerable expertise in peer review and publication ethics case investigations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Highly organized and efficient with excellent attention to detail.
- A collaborative team player with strong leadership skills.
- A commitment to open access and research integrity.
- PhD in a scientific discipline or similar clinical qualification.
- Experience in STM publishing in senior editorial or publication ethics roles.
- Extensive experience investigating and resolving publication ethics issues.
