Job Description
PLOS is seeking a Senior Editor, Team Manager to join their Publication Ethics team. This role is a fixed-term contract position, anticipated to last up to 12 months. The Senior Editor, Team Manager will contribute to team strategy development and implementation, manage a cohort of staff, and take primary responsibility for aspects of the team's work. The role involves recruiting, training, and developing team members, advising on case investigations, and helping to lead publication ethics case decision-making.
The Senior Editor, Team Manager will also contribute to investigations, lead projects, and participate in cross-functional partnerships. They will attend virtual COPE events and contribute to internal/external communications and policy development.
Role Involves:
- Managing a group of Publication Ethics team members.
- Providing training, feedback, and support to team members.
- Resolving publication ethics cases efficiently.
- Contributing to team strategy development and implementation.
- Contributing to internal discussions about publication ethics.
- Maintaining awareness of cross-industry issues and initiatives.
Requirements:
- PhD in a scientific discipline or similar clinical qualification.
- Experience in STM publishing in senior editorial or publication ethics roles.
- Extensive experience investigating and resolving publication ethics issues.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to lead a remote team.
