Engineering Manager, Marketplace

Job Description

Thumbtack is seeking an Engineering Manager for its Marketplace team. This role involves partnering with the Product Manager to define technical and product strategy, driving execution, and coaching engineers on a full-stack product team. The Engineering Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance the search and hiring experience for homeowners, enabling them to find and hire relevant home service professionals.Thumbtack's Engineering Manager will be responsible for:

• Defining and evolving the technical vision and strategy for the team.
• Collaborating with cross-functional counterparts on strategy and execution.
• Driving team execution against team-specific OKRs.
• Leading and managing the team as a technical leader.
• Hiring, coaching, and managing full-stack engineers.
• Building and evolving a high-performing culture of excellence.
• Maintaining and scaling the infrastructure owned by the team.
• Improving Thumbtack’s engineering culture.

Requirements for the Engineering Manager role include:

• 2+ years of experience in an engineering management role.
• 5+ years of experience building software at scale.
• Strong technical skills.
• Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Experience shaping technical and product strategy.
• Experience with decision-making using A/B testing.
