Engineering Manager, Marketplace

Job Description

Thumbtack is seeking an Engineering Manager to join its Marketplace team. This role involves building a world-class, two-sided marketplace where customers have delightful hiring experiences. The Engineering Manager will partner with the Product Manager to define technical & product strategy and drive execution. They will also be responsible for coaching and managing engineers on a full-stack product team.

• Defining and evolving the technical vision & strategy for the team.
• Collaborating with cross-functional counterparts on strategy & execution.
• Driving team execution against team-specific OKRs.
• Leading and managing the team as a technical leader.
• Hiring, coaching, and managing full-stack engineers at all levels.
• Building and evolving a high-performing culture of excellence on the team.
• Maintaining and scaling the infrastructure owned by the team.
• Working closely with other engineering leaders to improve Thumbtack’s engineering culture.

To be successful, candidates should bring:

• 2+ years of experience in an engineering management role.
• 5+ years of experience building software at scale.
• Strong technical skills and willingness to be hands-on.
• Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Experience shaping technical & product strategy.
• Experience with decision-making using A/B testing.
