Job Description

Google DeepMind is seeking a Research Engineer to focus on Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) responsibilities. This role is crucial for evaluating and mitigating CBRN risks, ensuring the safe and responsible release of AI models. • Designing and conducting evaluations to test potential CBRN risks in AI models.
• Developing and maintaining secure and performant evaluation infrastructure.
• Collaborating with experts to develop robust evaluation datasets.
• Developing effective mitigation methodologies to address identified risks.
• Communicating results and priorities to technical and leadership audiences.
• Engaging with internal and external subject matter experts.
• Maintaining an understanding of trends in AI development and CBRN threat landscapes.

Requirements include:

• 5 years of experience in a people management, team leadership role of a technical team.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical subject or relevant scientific field with computational experience.
• Experience designing distributed systems at scale.
• Strong knowledge of Python.
• Knowledge of mathematics, statistics, and machine learning concepts.
• Ability to present technical results clearly to non-experts.
