Job Description
Backbase is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead and grow multidisciplinary System Engineering teams. This role is based in Kraków and operates on a hybrid work model. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for driving teams that develop scalable, resilient, and high-performance cloud services. They will work closely with engineering, product, and project implementation teams to ensure delivery excellence. Backbase is looking for someone with strength in building empowered teams, developing talent, and fostering a culture of innovation, ownership, delivery, and continuous improvement.
Role Involves:
- Ensuring teams design & build fault-tolerant solutions aligned with business goals.
- Ensuring on-time and high-quality delivery through industry-standard practices.
- Providing guidance on the design and implementation of systems.
- Partnering with Product Management, Security, and other stakeholders.
- Ensuring all work meets high standards for compliance, security, and scalability.
- Embracing possibilities to innovate and encouraging the team to do the same.
Requirements:
- Solid understanding of system engineering principles.
- 3+ years of experience leading system engineering or platform teams.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- 3+ years experience in service delivery or operational management.
- Experience in growing engineering talent and building autonomous teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
- Excellent communication skills in English and interpersonal skills.
- In-depth understanding of hosting technologies and cloud services.
