Spektrum is seeking a Network Engineer to support key client projects for the NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCIA) in Braine l'Alleud, Belgium. The NCIA is responsible for providing secure and effective communications and information technology (IT) services to NATO's member countries and its partners. The Network Engineer will be responsible for implementing and maintaining network routing infrastructure.
Role Involves:
Systems design following standard approaches and established design patterns.
Network design specifying technical configurations and components.
Systems integration and build, producing software builds and configuring hardware/software.
Network support, maintaining the network support process and using network management tools.
Implementing and maintaining network routing infrastructure.
Planning, configuring, and deploying routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP, IS-IS).
Optimizing routing tables and traffic flow for performance and redundancy.
Diagnosing and resolving routing issues, including latency, congestion, and failures.
Implementing route filtering, prefix lists, and security policies to prevent unauthorized access.
Monitoring network usage and plan for scalability and growth.
Maintaining network diagrams, change logs, and incident reports.
Working with other teams (e.g., security, data centre, cloud) to ensure seamless connectivity.
Upgrading and patching routers to maintain security and stability.
Conducting network simulations and testing before deploying changes.
Being available on a rotating basis for after-hours network incidents and escalations.
Taking assigned shifts in the ESOC to monitor and manage network operations in real-time.
Requirements:
Hands-on experience with designing, implementing, and maintaining core network architecture.
Practical experience configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing routers, switches, and firewalls.
CCNA Routing and Switching or similar certification.
At least 2 years of practical experience in network architecture.
Proficiency in dynamic routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, IS-IS) and IPv4/IPv6 networking.
Experience with MPLS, IPv6, Segment Routing, QoS.
Hands-on experience with SD-WAN solutions.
Knowledge of Software Defined (SDx) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV).
Advanced troubleshooting skills and knowledge of network automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible).
Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization.
Good communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
Valid National or NATO Cosmic Top Secret personal security clearance.
