Job Description
Sony Music Entertainment is seeking a Legal Director to join their Southeast Asia (SEA) team. This role offers the opportunity to impact the music and entertainment industry. The Legal Director will manage legal matters across the SEA region, partnering with stakeholders to support business activities, ensure legal compliance, and navigate commercial, licensing, and intellectual property issues.

What this role involves:
  • Negotiating, drafting, and reviewing commercial agreements.
  • Providing legal guidance to business teams during artist signings.
  • Advising on deal-making strategies for digital initiatives and new business ventures.
  • Developing and updating standard form agreements.
  • Overseeing internal contract databases and systems.
  • Providing legal support for corporate restructuring and M&A activities.
  • Advising on and supporting the implementation of corporate compliance frameworks.
  • Supervising litigation matters and managing external counsel.

Requirements:
  • Philippine-qualified lawyer with 8–10 years of post-bar admission experience.
  • Experience in commercial transactions, contract law, and intellectual property rights.
  • Legal advisory experience covering Southeast Asia, including Vietnam and Malaysia (preferred).
  • Understanding of the entertainment landscape in Southeast Asia.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in a Southeast Asian language is an advantage.
