Job Description
Lucid Motors is seeking a Test Systems Engineering Technician to join their team in Newark, CA. This role involves building and maintaining Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems, designing electrical test equipment, and supporting test engineers in debugging electrical harness issues. The ideal candidate will have a technical degree in electrical or electronics, 5+ years of experience in an electronics/engineering lab, and strong troubleshooting skills in EV automotive electrical systems.

The role involves:
  • Building Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) system racks
  • Researching, procuring and assembling hardware needed for the HILs
  • Designing and building electrical test equipment (Breakout box) to support integration testing
  • Maintaining and updating all system HILs
  • Designing and building different levels of test benches and subsystems bucks for various functional testing
  • Modifying or rework test benches and subsystems bucks' harnesses
  • Building custom bench and vehicle wire harnesses
  • Supporting Test engineers in debugging electrical harness issues on system bucks and prototype vehicles
  • Managing inventory of parts in the lab

Requirements:
  • Technical degree in electrical or electronics preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in electronics/engineering lab
  • Automotive experience a plus
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Troubleshooting skills in EV automotive electrical systems, Ethernet, CAN, coax etc.
  • Fabrication, soldering and crimping skills
  • Knowledge of connectors and crimping tools is a plus
  • Experience working with power and hand tools
  • Able to work under pressure while multi-tasking and managing competing demands and tight deadlines
  • Able to work creatively and efficiently within a multi-disciplinary cooperative environment
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail and desire for continuous improvement
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Documentation skills using MS Office tools as well as Jira and Confluence
