Job Description
Figure is seeking an Assistant Controller to manage accounting operations, ensure GAAP compliance, and contribute to the Finance team's success. The Assistant Controller will report to Figure’s Controller and will be responsible for accounting operations primarily over Figure’s corporate activities, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, and contributing to the overall success of our Finance team. This role involves overseeing month-end and year-end close processes, developing internal controls, and collaborating with various teams. Figure is a financial technology firm operating at the intersection of regulation and transformation.

What this role involves:
  • Assisting with the year-end audit process and preparing GAAP financial statements.
  • Preparing and reviewing reporting packages for management, compliance, and tax purposes.
  • Overseeing month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Managing day-to-day accounting operations, including cash, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
  • Developing and implementing internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Partnering with financial operations and engineering teams to enhance accounting systems.
  • Leading and mentoring a high-performing accounting team.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with legal, executive leadership, and auditors.
  • Supporting ad hoc finance and accounting projects.
  • Staying current with evolving accounting standards.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong operational expertise
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing high-performing teams
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls, with IPO experience preferred
  • Background in both public accounting and in-house roles at public or pre-IPO companies
  • Financial services or fintech industry experience preferred, especially lending operations
  • Proficient with accounting and payroll systems such as NetSuite, Bill.com, Expensify, and Workday
  • Excellent project management, communication, and collaboration skills
