Job Description
Figure is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their Finance team. This role is based in Reno, NV. The Assistant Controller will report to the Controller and will be responsible for accounting operations, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, and contributing to the overall success of the Finance team. Figure is a financial technology firm operating at the intersection of regulation and transformation.
What this role involves:
- Assisting with the year-end audit process, including GAAP financial statements and footnotes.
- Preparing and reviewing reporting packages for management, compliance, and tax purposes.
- Overseeing month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
- Managing day-to-day accounting operations, including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and more.
- Developing and implementing internal controls over financial reporting, including SOX compliance.
- Partnering with financial operations and engineering teams to enhance accounting systems and reporting tools.
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing accounting team.
- Collaborating cross-functionally with legal, executive leadership, and auditors.
- Supporting ad hoc finance and accounting projects as the company scales.
- Staying current with evolving accounting standards and leading implementation as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong operational expertise
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing high-performing teams
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls, with IPO experience preferred
- Background in both public accounting and in-house roles at public or pre-IPO companies
- Financial services or fintech industry experience preferred, especially lending operations
- Proficient with accounting and payroll systems such as NetSuite, Bill.com, Expensify, and Workday
- Excellent project management, communication, and collaboration skills
