Environment Artist - Contract Position

Sony Interactive Entertainment is seeking an Environment Artist for a contract position at San Diego Studio, working on MLB The Show. The role involves creating compelling and visually appealing environments and props to enhance the user experience.

The Environment Artist will collaborate closely with the environment team, model and texture environments with an emphasis on realism, troubleshoot assets, and contribute to production pipelines.

This position may be eligible for hybrid work.

Responsibilities:

• Model and texture environments and/or related props as needed.
• Troubleshoot assets and maintain them within specifications.
• Collaborate with environment team members.
• Research and contribute to production pipelines.

Requirements:

• 2+ years’ experience in game development modeling environments using Maya, or related experience/software.
• Experience with video game development workflow, tools, lighting, high and low poly modeling, texture painting, material setup, surface sampling, UV layout, in-game prop animation, environment prop rigging and asset optimization.
• Proficiency in ZBrush, Maya, Substance Painter, Substance Designer and Photoshop.
• Ability to work independently and on a team.
• Strong artistic and technical abilities.
• Strong polygonal modeling skills.
• Great team-player demeanor.
• Ability to meet deadlines and organize a work schedule.
• Foundation in traditional arts.
