Job Description

Bridgewater Associates is seeking a Macroeconomic Research Associate to join their team in New York City. In this role, the Research Associate will be responsible for understanding global macroeconomic conditions and building investment logic based on cause-and-effect linkages. The successful candidate will conduct rigorous research to evolve the understanding of economic growth, inflation, and central bank policy, integrating this knowledge into Bridgewater’s systematic investment process.Role involves:

• Building a deep understanding of macroeconomics and its relationship with monetary and fiscal policy.
• Proactively perceiving and monitoring market-moving developments across major economies.
• Applying a rigorously analytical approach to modeling these developments and their implications.
• Collaborating with investors to translate understanding back to the investment process.
• Developing a deep understanding of major market economics and important political-economic developments.
• Building, maintaining, and consistently refining quantitative models of growth and inflation.
• Producing comprehensive weekly research reports.
• Working closely with investors to integrate understanding into trading systems.

Requirements:

• 4-year degree from an accredited undergraduate institution.
• 3+ years of professional experience in economic/financial research.
• Strong analytical capabilities and experience in model building.
• Excel proficiency is a must, and coding experience is a plus.
• Passion for conducting deep, rigorous research, building models, and synthesizing insights in high-quality research reports.
• Analytical, highly logical, and structured thinking and communication.
• Assertive and open-minded.
• High degree of pride, personal responsibility, and ownership in work.
• Ability to consistently step back and improve way of operating, and open to receiving and giving quality feedback.
