Manager, Cost Accounting

Job Description

• Managing and coaching a senior accounting analyst.
• Serving as a subject matter expert for cost and inventory accounting.
• Overseeing cost accounting, including product and process cost models for GAAP reporting.
• Preparing and reviewing inventory analysis, valuation, and impairment.
• Preparing and reviewing schedules for internal and external reporting.
• Assisting with the preparation and review of market-specific financial statements.
• Providing periodic operational cost analysis.
• Assisting with operational cost model and SKU-level analysis initiatives.
• Identifying areas to improve profitability and business results.
• Working directly with operational and site teams on special projects.
• Leading monthly and quarterly meetings with operational teams.
• Driving the continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
• Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies.
• Supporting the year-end financial audit and tax preparation process.
• Working closely with external auditors.
• Working cross-functionally with company departments and external partners.
• Implementing accounting policies and procedures.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business with accounting/finance concentration.
• 6+ years of accounting experience in manufacturing cost accounting and analysis.
• Experience at large, publicly traded manufacturing companies preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• Strong leadership presence and ability to influence decisions.
• Excellent interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
• Natural curiosity and ability to understand complex manufacturing processes.
• Ability to manage upward and coordinate/communicate with senior roles.
• Strong business knowledge and acumen with demonstrated partnership with operations.
• Extensive hands-on experience with financial accounting systems and manual financial modeling.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office.
• Ability to work independently in a highly organized manner.
• Ability to efficiently handle ambiguity and change.
