The Financial Times is seeking a Research Assistant to join the FT Locations team in Belfast. This division specializes in providing insights into globalization, assisting companies and economic development organizations in making informed decisions regarding foreign direct investment (FDI).

The Research Assistant will contribute to the fDi Markets database, a leading crossborder inward investment tool. The role involves conducting in-depth research on specific regions, identifying companies with FDI projects, and recording information into the database.

Responsibilities:

  • Research available sources to identify inward investment projects.
  • Conduct web-based research to gain additional project information.
  • Input inward investment projects and update missing information on previous projects to fDi Markets database.
  • Assist in the development of information sources.
  • Identify trends in and affecting FDI globally.
  • Research and update FDI projects - relocations and closures, downsizing, expansion projects and colocations.
  • Identify potential investment leads.
  • Provide data support for the sales team.

Requirements:

  • A-Level or above in a business, economics, or data-related subject.
  • Excellent written Spanish abilities.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Highly organised with an ability to plan and prioritise.
  • Adaptable great teammate with a positive attitude.
