Senior Network Engineer

SurveyMonkey is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to maintain the systems and connectivity that power its global business. The role involves working closely with colleagues across IT and business units to ensure the internal network environment is reliable, secure, and scalable. This is a hybrid role based in Heredia, Costa Rica, requiring 3 days per week in the office, with occasional international travel.

What this role involves:

• Operating and maintaining internal network infrastructure across corporate sites, private data centers, and cloud platforms.
• Configuring and troubleshooting enterprise networking technologies including BGP, OSPF, HSRP, VRRP, VLANs, VxLAN, and VRF.
• Automating network operations and provisioning tasks using Ansible, AWX, and scripting languages such as Python.
• Managing and supporting corporate network equipment, including Cisco, Meraki, and Palo Alto Networks platforms.
• Collaborating with a global team to ensure consistent network performance and continuous service improvement.
• Designing and optimizing connectivity for corporate offices, remote users, and cloud-based business applications.
• Troubleshooting complex network issues across distributed systems using tools like Wireshark.
• Maintaining accurate technical documentation and change management records.
• Participating in on-call support rotation.

Requirements:

• 3–5 years of progressive experience in network engineering within enterprise or corporate IT environments.
• Strong understanding of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and technologies like SD-WAN, VPN, NAC (802.1x), VLANs, QoS, SNMP, and RADIUS.
• Experience supporting infrastructure across AWS and/or Azure environments.
• Proficiency in scripting and network automation where possible.
• Solid experience with Cisco, Meraki, and Palo Alto Networks gear.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in hybrid and cloud environments.
• Ability to translate technical knowledge into clear, usable documentation for a range of audiences.
• Experience with disaster recovery planning and network resiliency best practices.
• Ability to communicate written and orally in English at the B2+ level.
