Job Description
Rent the Runway is seeking a Database Reliability Engineer III to manage and optimize its cloud-managed database platforms, primarily CloudSQL (MySQL) and MongoDB. The Database Reliability Engineer will drive data lifecycle management, collaborate with engineering teams to optimize query performance, and advance automation efforts. This role involves contributing to the data platform rebuild through expertise in database performance, structure, and governance.Role involves:
  • Managing and optimizing CloudSQL and MongoDB environments.
  • Implementing data lifecycle and governance practices.
  • Improving platform efficiency through query tuning and automation.
  • Contributing to infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD workflows.
  • Supporting incident response and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Evolving the DBA role into a proactive database engineering function.
Requirements:
  • 6+ years of experience with relational databases in production.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with MongoDB.
  • Experience in cloud-native environments (preferably GCP) using Terraform.
  • Proficiency in Python for scripting and automation.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD workflows for database changes.
  • Experience with data governance policies.
  • Proven improvements to platform performance and cost.
