Lucid Motors is seeking a Sr. Engineer – Closures Plastics to join their team in Munich. This role involves designing and delivering world-leading Closures Systems for Lucid's electric vehicle platforms. The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Designing and developing automotive Closures plastic trim parts and assemblies.
- Designing at system and component level, optimizing for performance, size, weight, durability, and cost.
- Collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Working with stakeholders across Vehicle Safety, Vehicle Dynamics, NVH, Durability, Manufacturing, and Design Studio.
- Interpreting CAE analysis results to guide design evolution.
- Ensuring efficient manufacturing processes and build quality.
- Creating testing plans and coordinating physical tests.
- Performing detailed analysis of materials and manufacturing processes.
- Coordinating virtual engineering and physical validation testing.
- Providing direction to others and negotiating balanced solutions.
- Determining required tolerances using GD&T.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of expertise in automotive plastic part design.
- Solid track record of successful system-level integration.
- Experience working with Class A surface data.
- Proficiency with CATIA V5/V6 or similar software.
- Hands-on experience in prototype and production assembly.
- Experience in technology, system, and supplier selection.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Detail-oriented with a problem-solving attitude.
- Design release engineering experience.
- Understanding of analysis tools such as ANSYS, OptiStruct, MatLab, ADAMS.
- Experience in full life cycle development.
- Ability to understand material requirements and select plastic grades.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes for Closures Plastic parts.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent.
