Job Description
Lucid Motors is seeking a Wheel & Wheel Trim Engineer to contribute to the design and development of luxury electric vehicles. This role involves engineering wheels, wheel trim, inserts, and center caps from initial concept to production. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to ensure designs meet vehicle attribute requirements and will manage projects in a demanding environment.
Role Involves:
- Designing and developing wheels, wheel trim, inserts and center caps and other components from initial concept to production
- Establishing requirements for components based desired vehicle attributes
- Completing component DFMEAs and DVPs, and contribute to system failure mode analyses
- Working closely with both internal teams and externals suppliers, using creativity and teamwork to design with excellence at the system and component levels
- Coordinating virtual engineering and physical validation testing activities for your designs
- Managing multiple complex projects in a demanding environment
- Working closely with the design studio, CAE department and validation team
Requirements:
- Automotive industry experience, mostly focused on design of wheels, wheel inserts and wheel trim
- Personally designed components from concept to production
- Proven 3D CAD skills
- Hands-on practical experience in prototype assembly
- Experience in technology, system, and supplier selection
- Project leadership and mentoring skills
- Design release engineering experience, including engineering change management and project management experience
- Determine required tolerances using GD&T
