Job Description
Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Production Engineer I/II to join their Space Systems team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This role is crucial for maintaining and improving the yield and processes in the III-V semiconductor solar cell production. The Senior Production Engineer will lead projects related to yield issues, such as large-scale excursions and tool malfunctions. They will also be responsible for technology transfers of new products and processes from R&D to production manufacturing. The ideal candidate will be data-driven, possess strong relationship-building skills, and demonstrate a high degree of ownership.
What this role involves: - Owning process modules by addressing defect issues and creating clear work instructions.
- Supporting activities to maximize yield and productivity.
- Responding to excursions and line-down scenarios.
- Collaborating with operations to meet yield targets.
- Planning and performing experiments to enhance safety, throughput, yield, and reliability.
- Scoping new equipment and process approaches.
Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in an engineering field.
- 5+ years (for Senior Production Engineer I) or 8+ years (for Senior Production Engineer II) of related industrial/manufacturing experience.
Nice to have: - Experience with semiconductor processing modules.
- Knowledge of cleanroom protocols and safety.
- Understanding of statistical methods and JMP.
- Hands-on experience with thin film metrology tools.
- Understanding of III-V solar cell device physics and testing methods.
- Understanding of II-V semiconductor materials science.
- Understanding of 6in thinned wafer handling.
