Product Manager, MCP

Job Description

Anthropic is seeking a Product Manager to join their MCP (Model Context Protocol) team. This individual will play a key role in shaping the future of AI integrations and establishing MCP as the industry standard for AI context integration. The Product Manager will work in the open with a vibrant developer community, balancing the needs of internal products with those of the broader developer community.Responsibilities:

• Conceive and execute a product vision and strategy for MCP.
• Drive technical discussions and decision-making through public RFCs and GitHub issues.
• Conduct user research to understand developer pain points and requirements.
• Synthesize user insights into actionable product requirements and protocol specifications.
• Design intuitive and developer-friendly protocol interfaces, SDKs, and documentation.
• Analyze MCP usage data and feedback to measure product success.
• Support both external developers and internal teams building on MCP.
• Represent the developer perspective and advocate for their needs.
• Communicate product roadmap, releases, and value propositions.
• Help shape the technical direction of the protocol.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience as a Product Manager working on developer-focused products.
• Experience contributing to or maintaining open source projects.
• Strong technical aptitude to understand protocol architecture.
• Comfortable working in public and engaging with developer communities.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience analyzing data.
• Experience launching zero-to-one products.
• Experience with protocol design, APIs, or developer platforms.
• Strong technical communication skills.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity.
• Care about security, scalability, and backwards compatibility.
• Passion for safe and beneficial AI.
