Job Description

DEPT® is seeking a Senior Copywriter for a 12-month fixed-term contract in Toronto. The role is part of the Personalised Content team, which specializes in hyper-personalized digital communications for clients like eBay and Walmart. The position is hybrid, requiring some on-site presence in Toronto.

The Senior Copywriter will join a global Copy Team and write for all digital channels, providing on-brand website copy. They will act as a brand guardian, providing voice and tone expertise. Collaboration with account managers and clients is essential to deliver high-quality content.

This role involves editing and providing critical feedback, upholding client creative standards, and pushing new ideas.

Responsibilities:

  • Create clear, effective, and original copy and content for clients' on-site marketing.
  • Write content for various channels.
  • Provide clear, effective feedback and directional brand and tone of voice guidance.
  • Establish, strengthen, and uphold copy standards.
  • Establish processes and policies to maximize efficiency.
  • Deliver creative ideas confidently both internally and externally.
  • Offer strategic messaging insights on creative campaigns.
  • Research competitors and trends for creative inspiration.
  • Facilitate creative brainstorms and other necessary meetings.
  • Exhibit leadership and professionalism across all interactions.

Requirements:

  • Experience as a copywriter (agency or brand preferred).
  • Experience editing content and giving feedback.
  • Experience in the e-commerce/retail environment (a plus).
  • Experience delivering and receiving feedback in English.
  • In-depth knowledge of multi-channel digital copy and brand development (a plus).
  • Understanding of social media content best practices and trends (preferred).
  • Ability to deliver compelling marketing and content copy that sells.
  • Confidence working with designers, developers, and clients.
  • Readiness to work at a fast pace on large marketing campaigns.
  • Understanding of consistency across different touchpoints of a user journey.
  • Ability to present work to large groups and communicate ideas clearly.
  • A collaborative approach to getting things done.
