Program Officer - Livelihoods

Job Description

GiveWell is seeking a Program Officer to lead the expansion of its livelihoods grantmaking portfolio. This role involves evaluating and recommending cost-effective programs aimed at increasing income and consumption for individuals in extreme poverty. The Program Officer will be a senior leader, responsible for setting the grantmaking strategy and shaping the direction of GiveWell's investments in this area.GiveWell is a research organization that identifies and funds cost-effective giving opportunities, focusing on global health and well-being. GiveWell's work is funded by tens of thousands of donors who rely on GiveWell's research to inform their giving.Role Involves:

• Developing a strategic vision for GiveWell's livelihoods grantmaking.
• Expanding GiveWell's portfolio of livelihoods grants.
• Leading GiveWell’s external engagement and building relationships in the livelihoods space.
• Contributing to GiveWell's broader research and organizational goals.
• Potentially establishing and managing a small team conducting world-class research.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of professional experience in similar or closely-related roles.
• Strong track record of rigorous analysis and critical thinking.
• Experience creating and using quantitative analysis and cost-effectiveness modeling.
• Strategic thinking and a track record of self-directed execution.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
