Job Description

The Weather Company is seeking an Aviation Meteorologist to join their aviation forecasting section in Seoul, Korea. The Aviation Meteorologist will provide advanced forecasting expertise for The Weather Company's decision support products and services to airline operations control centers and airline airport personnel. This role requires an understanding of airline operations and the air traffic control environment.

The Aviation Meteorologist will deliver timely products with the accuracy and quality required to meet and exceed customer expectations. They will also be quality controlling and adding value to global weather data used by numerous other client types, from media to energy and retail.

What this role involves:

  • Monitoring, quality assuring, and adding value to global forecast data.
  • Providing advanced level aviation forecasts mainly for Terminal Aerodrome Forecast(TAF).
  • Evaluating data and then issue written, graphical, and oral aviation forecasts and alerts.
  • Producing Flight Planning Guidance (FPG) charts and Significant Meteorological Information (SIGMETs).
  • Developing knowledge of airspace, air traffic control programs affecting airline operations.
  • Actively collaborating with other meteorologists on Global weather issues.
  • Generating short-fused narratives, forecast discussions and weather alerts for disruptive weather events.
  • Generating system wide risk forecasts for potential impacts to customer assets.
  • Delivering operational forecast content consistently and accurately within rigid time constraints.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 years of operational aviation weather forecasting with civil/commercial experience or military experience accepted.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact in an operational team environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in forecast process within an operational forecasting environment.
  • Exceptional organizational, data analysis, data collation and process management skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency to effectively multitask and adjust priorities based on changing weather conditions in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or related science.
  • Applicants must have a good level of written and spoken English with the guide minimum level of 800 for a TOEIC score or at least 90 for a TOEFL iBT score
