Job Description

DLH Corp is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join their team in Durham, NC. In this role, the Laboratory Technician will support epidemiological and clinical studies, focusing on chronic diseases and environmental exposures. The technician will be responsible for various tasks related to specimen management, quality control, and communication with stakeholders.Responsibilities:

• Creating barcoded labels and scanning samples into the laboratory database.
• Preparing specimens for long-term storage, including aliquoting.
• Preparing, testing, and recording results of quality control material.
• Managing Excel files for database uploads.
• Packing shipments of samples according to IATA regulations (up to 50 lbs).
• Maintaining equipment and supply inventories.
• Answering lab alarms on a rotating schedule.
• Maintaining and testing egress lighting, eyewash, and other safety equipment.
• Coordinating communications with Principal Investigators and collaborators.
• Developing file structures for efficient specimen and data transfer.
• Serving as a resource for specimen inventory and database management.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, Medical Lab technology, or related field.
• Minimum of two years of experience doing bench research.
• Previous experience working in a laboratory environment.
• Intermediate proficiency with Excel and basic programming experience.
• Basic experience using MS Office Suite.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to follow detailed work instructions.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work collaboratively as well as independently.
