Senior Backend Engineer (Analytics, Avalor)

Job Description

Zscaler is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Analytics team at Avalor. Avalor, a part of Zscaler, curates and contextualizes data from security and business tools to help companies address their riskiest problems. The ideal candidate will be passionate about data and improving companies' security posture.This role involves:

• Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend services using Java/Spring Boot and Python.
• Optimizing performance, cost, and reliability of services in production.
• Ensuring efficient data management across diverse stores (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redshift, Snowflake, etc.).
• Driving innovation in semantic layers, query optimizations, and analytics capabilities.
• Collaborating across teams, including product, UX, and frontend.
• Mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements include:

• 5+ years of experience in backend development (Java/Spring Boot) and microservices architecture (AWS, Kubernetes, RabbitMQ, SQS, Tilt).
• Expertise in query optimization, data analytics, and building semantic layers.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Adaptability in dynamic environments.
• Passion for exploring new technologies.
