Job Description
AirTrunk is seeking an Associate Director, Tax to be based in their Tokyo HQ. This role involves working closely with the global Tax team and the Finance team in Japan. The Associate Director will shape AirTrunk's approach to tax in Japan in a rapidly expanding business.

Responsibilities:
  • Providing advisory support to the group in relation to transactions that may arise in Japan
  • Leading strategic tax initiatives in Japan
  • Handling the Japanese aspects of new laws that may impact the group such as Pillar 2 and Country by Country Reporting obligations
  • Facilitating positive interactions with local revenue authorities in Japan where required
  • Overseeing all tax matters for our Japanese business across direct taxes, indirect taxes, employee taxes and transfer pricing
  • Ensuring all local tax compliance filing obligations are met
  • Establishing and maintaining good working relationships with local tax advisors
  • Seeking opportunities for improvement in our local tax positions and processes

Requirements:
  • 10-15 years’ experience in a similar tax role in industry and/or professional firm
  • Appropriate professional qualifications (Certified Public Tax Accountant (Zeirishi), etc.)
  • Proven ability to work independently to execute on strategic priorities and a growth mindset
  • Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Exposure to international business environment
  • Curiosity about the data centre business
  • Near native-level Japanese ability (written and spoken) and business-level fluency in English
