Job Description

DEPT® is seeking a Senior Copy Editor for a 6-month fixed-term contract in Manchester. The Senior Copy Editor will be part of the Personalised Communication team, creating emotive and conversion-focused content for clients like eBay and Walmart. The role involves writing, editing, and approving in-app content for a major streaming platform, ensuring show synopses align with brand guidelines and drive engagement.

The Senior Copy Editor will oversee copy quality, provide feedback, and improve team efficiency. They will also prepare client presentations and serve as the creative point of contact for the account. This role offers an opportunity to express a passion for cinema and entertainment through editing and proofreading skills.

Working with the Copy Lead, Associate Copy Director, and Account Management, the Senior Copy Editor will mentor junior team members and develop strategies for effective copy.

Role Involves:

  • Producing compelling copy for original entertainment
  • Approving edited AI-generated copy
  • Editing original synopsis copy
  • Shaping copywriters’ creative concepts
  • Adhering to brand guidelines
  • Researching films and television shows
  • Collaborating with writers and account management
  • Presenting editorial rationale to stakeholders
  • Liaising with client representatives
  • Supporting copywriters through mentorship
  • Updating internal documents
  • Conducting quality control checks

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a copywriter/editor
  • Creative agency experience (a plus)
  • Experience with AI content (editing, rewriting)
  • Screenwriting, playwriting, or entertainment journalism (a plus)
  • Deep knowledge of cinema and television
  • Enthusiasm for shows and movies
  • Experience in the entertainment sector (a plus)
  • Knowledge of crafting copy that connects with audiences
  • Knowledge of researching unfamiliar topics
  • Ability to explain editorial decisions
  • Ability to deliver constructive feedback
  • Detail-oriented and collaborative
  • Ability to work at a fast pace
  • Confidence in working with other departments
  • Understanding of consistency across touchpoints
  • Ability to present work to large groups
