Textile Technologist

Jonsson Workwear is seeking a skilled Textile Technologist to join their Product Development team in Durban, South Africa. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in textiles, an excellent instinct for fabric performance, and a commitment to quality. This role is crucial in ensuring that Jonsson Workwear's garments meet the highest standards of durability and performance.Responsibilities:

• Source, evaluate, and approve fabrics for new and existing garment designs.
• Guide fabric application across multiple garments and ranges.
• Develop trim specifications and collaborate with suppliers.
• Test and analyze textiles and trims to ensure they meet performance standards.
• Investigate and troubleshoot fabric-related issues during production.
• Develop and implement testing protocols to enhance fabric performance.
• Stay updated on textile innovations and sustainability practices.
• Collaborate with Operations teams to source trims and textiles and negotiate lead times.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Textile Technologist.
• Strong technical knowledge of textiles and their performance characteristics.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of industry standards and sustainability practices.
