Job Description

Ocado Technology is seeking a Software Engineer to join its WCS & Conveyor Team. This team is responsible for the intelligent movement of containers in Ocado's warehouses. The Software Engineer will contribute to the development, maintenance, and support of core production applications that control conveyor systems and track containers throughout the global warehouse network. The role involves integrating new hardware and optimizing layouts across Ocado's facilities. The engineer will work on the Warehouse Control System (WCS), a software layer bridging low-level hardware controllers and business logic applications, as well as applications automating bagging operations and managing tote washing and redistribution.

Role involves:

  • Developing, enhancing, and maintaining real-time control systems.
  • Working on backend and frontend projects across multiple applications.
  • Collaborating in team-wide design discussions.
  • Solving complex technical challenges.
  • Presenting ideas and sharing knowledge with stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Solid Java skills (Java 21+ preferred).
  • Understanding of OOP and functional programming.
  • Interest in real-time control systems.
  • Interest in maintaining and supporting systems in live production environments.
  • Some experience with React.
