Service Delivery Engineer, SRE

Job Description

PhonePe Group is seeking a Service Delivery Engineer, SRE to join their team in Bangalore. The company is a leading digital payments company in India with a large user base and merchant network. The SRE - System Delivery team is a cross-functional team that collaborates with other SRE teams to build infrastructure services and manage production activities.

The Service Delivery Engineer will be responsible for building, managing, and scaling PhonePe's production systems. This role involves working on well-defined tasks under supervision and following predefined SOPs.

Responsibilities include:

• Building & managing various distributed systems such as Galera, Nginx, Aerospike, ElasticSearch and RMQ.
• Deploying operating system vulnerability fixes to production systems.
• Performing routine database maintenance activities.
• Building and rolling out proxy configurations to production systems.
• Understanding the criticality of production infrastructure.
• Being willing to work 24/7 shifts and provide on-call support across the SRE organisation.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1-3 years of hands-on experience in Linux / Unix System Administration.
• Proficiency in Linux CLI Tools for System Administration.
• Hands-on experience with Disk & LVM Management.
• Understanding of managing and configuring System Services.
• Understanding of package management tools and processes.
• Understanding of Linux file permission systems.
• Understanding of cron jobs for task scheduling.
• Understanding of DNS and its configuration.
• Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Salt or Ansible.
• Understanding of Shards, Partitions and Truncations
• Proficiency in writing and debugging Bash / Python scripts
• Good Interpersonal Communication Skills
• Ability to understand & follow SOPs
