Security Operations Engineer

Job Description

Planet is seeking a Security Operations Engineer to join their team in Berlin, Germany. Planet is a company focused on using space to help life on Earth. They design, build, and operate a constellation of imaging satellites, providing data to various sectors.

The Security Operations Engineer will be involved in corporate security, SOC operations, incident handling, user education, and collaboration with application development teams. This role requires a blend of technical and interpersonal skills, including a solid software background and knowledge of cryptographic concepts.

This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week in the Berlin office.

Role Involves:

• Running, maintaining, monitoring, and enhancing SIEM, network, server, and application monitoring.
• Responding to security incidents and Planet’s bug bounty program.
• Automating workflows and developing solutions to increase team efficiency.
• Conducting product security reviews.
• Driving processes and systems to support Planet's products.
• Participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation for alerts and investigations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline with a focus in Information Security.
• 4+ years of professional experience in a security-focused role.
• A computer science, software engineering, or equivalent technical background, and security concepts including cryptography.
• Experience developing security requirements at a cross-system level.
• Experience leading or participating in projects.
• Familiarity with SOC operations.
• Familiarity with network and application penetration testing.
