Senior Data Scientist, Product

Job Description

Thumbtack is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join their Product team. This role is remote and based in Ontario. The Data Science team at Thumbtack empowers the company to use data to guide business decisions. The Senior Data Scientist will embed with product teams to support new product feature launches, study the economics of the marketplace, and help inform strategy. They will be responsible for all the analytical needs of a team of engineers, designers, and product/marketing managers.What this role involves:

• Proposing and conducting quantitative research into key user behaviors, product flows, and business trends.
• Designing and analyzing experiments and other tests for causal inference.
• Partnering with product managers and engineers to help scope new features.
• Defining and monitoring key metrics and investigating changes.
• Developing topic area expertise.
• Contributing to the team and company data culture.
• Collaborating with, mentoring, and helping recruit team members.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or economics.
• Experience managing stakeholders with competing priorities.
• Experience scoping, analyzing, and communicating results of experiments.
• Expert in SQL.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build strong relationships cross-functionally and with leadership.
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in a technical area.
