Job Description
Lucid Motors is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Machinist for Vehicle Integration with solid experience in CNC machining. The ideal candidate will report to the Maintenance Manager and will be responsible for understanding specifications of output, planning the sequence of actions for job completion, and selecting appropriate machines.
Role involves:
- Reviewing samples, drawings, or instructions to understand specifications of output.
- Planning the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job.
- Taking measurements and marking material for cutting or shaping.
- Selecting appropriate machines (e.g. lathes) and position or load material for a job.
- Determining and program size of batches, speed of machine etc.
- Monitoring machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issues.
- Checking output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects.
- Keeping records of approved and defective units or final products
- Performing routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages.
- Maintaining a tidy and safe work environment.
- Developing and maintaining supportive, professional relationships with technicians, designers and engineers.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is preferred
- Machinist Apprenticeship or 4+ years’ experience as a Machinist required
- Ability to work flexible schedule, overtime, and weekends when necessary
- Experience in Stamping and/or complex manufacturing preferred
- Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting experience
- Understand all aspects of machine setup and operation including tool setup
- Ability to machine parts to specification working from CAD files, mechanical drawings and sketches
- Ability to read, understand, and create technical mechanical drawings, including orthographic projections, sectional views, part notes and dimensions and tolerances
- High degree of knowledge in workpiece fixturing and jig and fixture design
- Understanding of milling, turning, single-point threading, knurling, broaching, grinding, cutting, etc. and detailed functional knowledge of most common machine shop tools and machines
- Understanding of metrology, GD&T and the ability to use conventional machinist's measuring instruments
- Ability to perform calculations using geometry, trigonometry, algebra, and basic mathematics
- Strong organization skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines on multiple projects
