Job Description
Backbase is seeking a Backend Director to provide strategic leadership, technical expertise, and mentorship within the backend development domain. The Backend Director will have functional oversight and guidance to the entire engineering team, particularly principal engineers, and provide expert advice on the technologies involved in the development and implementation of Backbase products.
Role involves:
- Shaping the direction of Backbase’s Backend discipline.
- Serving as a recognized authority in the broader engineering landscape.
- Shaping the technical vision for digital channels and technical guidelines for development.
- Driving large change-management initiatives to resolve tech debt and improve ways of working.
- Defining and developing the software architecture for the backend guild.
- Meeting and aligning with stakeholders to gather feedback and present the technical roadmap.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience in backend development.
- Proven track record of architecting backend strategies and defining best practices.
- Solid knowledge of Java, Spring, Docker, Maven, Kubernetes and Helm.
- In-depth technical expertise in backend architecture, quality assurance, and performance optimization.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Proven track record of successful cross-functional collaboration.
- Exceptional communication and client engagement skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams.
