Senior Backend Engineer

The company is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their team in Amsterdam. This role is within the Business Banking value stream of the R&D department, focusing on creating solutions that enable banks to seamlessly service customers and employees through engaging banking experiences. The engineer will work on entitlements, providing web journeys to control user access, and Positive Pay, a fraud prevention service, among other capabilities designed in Krakow.

The role offers a hybrid working model, combining on-site and off-site work. The engineer will contribute to new and existing functionalities, proof of concepts, and technical improvements for the Digital Banking Platform. They will take ownership of their work and collaborate with architects, QA engineers, and other team members to ensure implementation aligns with the company's technical vision and best practices.

The company's R&D approach is inspired by the Spotify Model, organized into Value Streams, Tribes, Guilds, and Chapters for knowledge exchange and idea sharing. Business Banking squads follow Scrum with two-week sprints, delivering product increments in monthly releases.

What this role involves:

• Contributing to new and existing functionalities.
• Developing proof of concepts.
• Implementing technical improvements.
• Taking ownership of software development lifecycle.

Requirements:

• Solid background in software development including design.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Solid understanding of Java, Maven, CI, and CD.
• Experience with relational databases and Spring JPA / Hibernate.
• Experience with microservices, Cloud, and Apache Tomcat.
• Understanding of Enterprise Integration Patterns.
