Job Description

Zinnia is seeking a Data Engineering Manager to provide technical and people leadership for core business lines. The Data Engineering Manager will oversee the planning, development, and maintenance of Zinnia's data platform. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to achieve optimal data-driven outcomes and ensuring the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of data systems.Responsibilities include:

• Overseeing technological choices and implementation of data pipelines and warehousing strategies.
• Designing data sets that are simple, maintainable, and enable Data Analysts, Data Scientists, and stakeholders to work efficiently with data.
• Leading cross-organizational efforts aimed at automating data processes and data-as-a-service capabilities.
• Advocating for and implementing technical best practices throughout the data organization.
• Mentoring data team members and fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
• Partnering with other leaders to bring innovative concepts to reality and design data models for downstream data maximization.
• Ensuring reliability in data pipelines and enforcing data governance, security, and protection of customer information.
• Evaluating and championing new engineering tools that enhance efficiency and scalability within the team.

Requirements include:

• 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering with a minimum of 3+ years in a management role.
• A Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Extensive experience with data engineering technologies, including proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience working on product teams and collaborating with other data science team members.
• Strong working knowledge of Airflow, dbt, Jira, Git, and Data Warehousing tools (BigQuery, Snowflake).
• Experience in tools such as GitHub Actions, Terraform, containers.
• Proven track record in leading data engineering teams, mentoring staff, and promoting a culture of learning and teaching.
• Demonstrated ability to take risks when seeking novel solutions to complex problems.
• Familiarity with designing custom Machine Learning (ML) pipelines.
