Job Description
Apera AI, a Vancouver-based startup specializing in robotics, AI, and machine vision, is seeking a Field Application Engineer. In this role, the individual will lead the installation, optimization, and adoption of AI-powered robotic vision platforms in manufacturing facilities across North America. This position offers the opportunity to work with industry leaders, collaborate cross-functionally, and gain exposure to advanced robotics in commercial use.
Role Involves:
- Leading the installation, setup, and commissioning of AI-driven robotic vision systems at customer sites.
- Delivering field training to customer teams.
- Documenting technical feedback from real-world deployments and collaborating with the Engineering team.
- Conducting pre-deployment site audits.
- Creating execution plans for each install.
- Working with Sales, PMs, and Engineers to ensure alignment on technical scope and business objectives.
- Managing timelines and risk during multi-robot rollouts.
- Tracking performance and resolving emerging issues to improve uptime.
- Diagnosing problems and deploying fast, root-cause fixes.
- Identifying where AI or automation tools can replace manual work.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field or a technologist diploma with equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in automation, mechatronics, controls, or a related field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Proven working knowledge of robotics, machine controls, automation principles, and manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting.
- The ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic prints and related technical documentation.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
- Must be able to travel 75%.
- Willingness to travel on short notice, and weekend work as needed.
