Job Description
Figure is seeking a Product Counsel to join their team. This role will focus on Figure's innovative Marketplace and Figure Markets' products, which support the issuing and trading of digital assets, securities, and non-securities using blockchain. The ideal candidate will have experience in multiple jurisdictions, including Europe, Asia, Americas, and the Middle East. The Legal team plays a crucial role in Figure Markets' growth and mission to transform financial services using blockchain.

What this role involves:
  • Becoming the chief product expert on the Legal team.
  • Providing legal leadership for markets and products.
  • Offering legal advice on securities, banking, and insurance laws.
  • Providing day-to-day legal, business, and strategic advice to internal teams.
  • Offering legal guidance throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Staying up-to-date on digital assets, blockchain, and securities laws.
  • Providing legal support for legislative and policy developments.
  • Developing guidance for marketing and design teams.
  • Building strong relationships with relevant parties.

Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of cryptocurrencies and experience buying/selling crypto.
  • 5+ years of experience as in-house counsel for a financial services firm.
  • Expertise in securities matters (Securities Act of 1933, Investment Advisers Act of 1940, Investment Company Act of 1940).
  • Experience at a regulatory agency (SEC, CFTC) is a plus.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements around financial markets and crypto assets.
  • Product counseling experience in blockchain, crypto, and securities products.
  • Interest in digital assets and blockchain technology.
  • J.D. and membership with at least one state bar.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage projects effectively.
