Pulley is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to lead the design and implementation of critical backend systems. The Staff Engineer will set the technical direction for projects, improve system performance, and ensure data models are robust. This role involves modernizing the platform and working on systems that power company-building at scale. Designing and evolving backend services, APIs, and data models.
Leading architecture decisions to improve system reliability and scalability.
Owning key parts of the persistence layer, including database schema design.
Collaborating with AI, frontend, and product engineers.
Partnering with PMs and designers to define product initiatives.
Championing code quality and maintainability.
Mentoring other engineers.
Requirements:
8+ years of experience building backend systems at scale.
Strong proficiency in Go or Python.
Deep understanding of database design and data modeling.
Experience designing APIs.
Product intuition and a track record of shaping features.
A systems-thinking mindset.
Ability to mentor and technically lead projects.
