Job Description
Newsela is seeking a Senior HR Generalist to join their People team. This role is crucial for supporting the workforce and delivering key HR functions. The Senior HR Generalist will report to the VP of People and will partner with Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partners, and Payroll & Benefits.
What this role involves:
- Overseeing and enhancing onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Evaluating and implementing scalable HR processes and tools.
- Collaborating on the development and maintenance of the Employee Handbook.
- Managing the international contractor workforce employee lifecycle.
- Maintaining employee records within the HRIS (UKG).
- Ensuring compliance with labor laws and internal policies.
- Leading the performance management process.
- Managing the Leave of Absence process.
- Driving initiatives to improve employee engagement and retention.
- Collaborating with Recruitment and Talent Management.
- Managing the DEIB Council.
- Supporting accurate payroll and benefits processing.
- Supporting change management initiatives.
- Serving as a central point for HR-related communications.
- Coordinating and facilitating company-wide all-hands meetings.
- Gathering feedback from employees to improve messaging and format.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of HR Generalist experience in a SaaS or tech company.
- Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations across the U.S.
- Proven ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion.
- Expertise in Leaves of Absence.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience as a power user/admin within UKG.
- Proficiency with the Google Suite.
