Senior Big Data Engineer

Job Description

Nexxen is seeking a Senior Big Data Java Developer to join its Data Engineering team in Frankfurt/Main. The ideal candidate will be a proactive and autonomous problem solver who enjoys working collaboratively. This role is based in the Frankfurt/Main office and follows a hybrid schedule, requiring three days a week in the office and the remainder remote.

The Senior Big Data Engineer will contribute to the company's Data Management platform, which is responsible for processing, storing, and serving data for all core systems. The engineer will participate in building and designing the next-generation data infrastructure.

What this role involves:

• Implementing high-scale Big Data solutions and contributing to platform infrastructure and architecture.
• End-to-end feature development and ownership, from design to production.
• Participating in building and designing the next-generation data infrastructure of the company.
• Researching innovative technologies for building highly scalable data applications.
• Working with various stakeholders: Product, Engineering, Data providers etc.

Requirements:

• Language: English and German
• 4+ years of data engineering experience
• 4+ years of experience in Java
• Experience in Python and Scala (advantage)
• Strong system architecture knowledge, especially in distributed systems
• Experience building performant and scalable high-volume applications
• Experience in maintaining and scaling production systems
• Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases
• Understanding of Pipelines/ETLs/Hadoop/Hive/Spark/Kafka/Streaming/DBMS
• Working knowledge of Linux, Docker, and Container Orchestration
• Proficient with the Git version control system
• Collaboration with developers, product managers, business operations, and customers
• BS (or higher) in Computer Science or related degree
• Experience working in an Agile development process
• Excellent communication skills
• Team player
