Job Description
Planet is seeking a Materials Program Manager to join their team in San Francisco. This role involves communication and relationship building with suppliers, working on supply chain projects, and process improvement. The ideal candidate will have a procurement background in a high-mix-low-volume environment.

The Materials Program Manager will sit at the intersection of Manufacturing and Engineering, balancing the needs of both groups to ensure successful product launches. They will work with operations, manufacturing, supplier quality, supply base engineers, and Planet’s Design Teams to execute and scale manufacturing processes.

Role involves:
  • Building and managing Clear-to-Builds (CTBs) and leading build readiness reviews.
  • Leading strategic component procurement.
  • Achieving key performance metrics, such as OKR fulfillment, OTD, cost reductions, and SLT reporting of metrics.
  • Executing Procurement kick off cycles and Long Lead time POs impacting critical program timelines.
  • Maintaining costed BOMs for assigned programs as source of truth.
  • Analyzing component lifecycle status and influencing engineering teams to make design updates.
  • Managing the supply to meet demand and expedite delivery with suppliers.

Requirements:
  • Experience building and managing CTBs and Build Readiness Review Reports.
  • Experience in onboarding and managing suppliers.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.
  • 4+ years of experience in a production environment.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
