Backbase is seeking a Backend Engineer to join its R&D product team in Madrid. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and delivery of a production-ready banking platform across all verticals.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Backend Engineer will work on new and existing functionalities, proof of concepts, and technical improvements for the Digital Banking Platform. The role involves taking ownership of development, collaborating with architects and other team members, and ensuring implementation aligns with technical vision and best practices.

Backbase offers a modern software solution with a microservices architecture, continuous integration and delivery, and Agile practices. The technology stack includes Spring Boot, Netflix OSS, and in-house libraries.

Role Involves:

  • Contributing to new and existing functionalities
  • Participating in proof of concepts
  • Implementing technical improvements
  • Taking ownership of development
  • Collaborating with team members

Requirements:

  • Solid background in software development including design
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken)
  • Experience with Java, Spring, Maven, CI, and CD
  • Experience with microservices (Netflix OSS is a plus)
  • Knowledge of relational databases
  • Experience with non-functionals such as security, performance, scalability
  • Solid understanding of Enterprise Integration Patterns
  • Experience in the banking domain or fintech products is a plus
  • Experience with cloud and traditional application servers (WebSphere, JBoss) is a plus
  • Full Stack development experience is a huge advantage
