Principal Backend Engineer at Backbase

Backbase is seeking a Principal Backend Engineer to help define and execute the technical vision for the product. The Principal Backend Engineer will assist with prototyping and validation of new architectural and technological ideas, efficiency gains, and refactoring initiatives. This role involves working across departments, fostering collaboration, and representing the product vision internally and externally.

The Principal Backend Engineer will also interact with teams from the Pre-Sales and Customer Success Departments to incorporate technology feedback from customers and field engineers. They will provide advice based on experience and a deep technical understanding of software development, practices, and frameworks. The ideal candidate will lead by example, embodying the company's way of working and path to success. This role will be the expert in all topics related to Backend. As part of the team, the candidate will deliver new and existing functionalities, proof of concepts, and technical improvements that will be implemented in Retail Banking domain of the Digital Banking Platform. The particular focus will be payment capabilities alongside contributions to the delivery of other capabilities within the Retail Banking sector.

The role involves:

• Defining and executing the technical vision for the product.
• Assisting with prototyping and validation of new architectural and technological ideas.

• Contributing to new and existing functionalities, proof of concepts, and technical improvements.

Requirements:

• Living in Cracow or nearby area and being willing to work in a hybrid way(2 times from the office per week).
• Solid background in software development, design, and architectural patterns.
• Ability to communicate clearly and confidently across all levels.
• Experience with Java, Spring, Maven, JPA, Hibernate, CI, and CD.
• Strong experience with microservices.
• Experience in Cloud-native deployments and traditional application servers (WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat).
• Knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL).
• Good understanding of non-functionals such as security, performance, and scalability.
• Solid understanding of Enterprise Integration Patterns.
• Experience as a technical leader.
• Excellent communication skills in English, spoken and written.
