Senior Backend Developer at Backbase

Backbase is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join their R&D product team in Madrid. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and delivery of a production-ready banking platform across all verticals. This role involves working within a multidisciplinary team of UX designers, software developers, QA engineers, and technical writers, participating in new and existing functionalities, proof of concepts, and technical improvements for the Backbase Digital Banking Platform. The team follows Scrum methodologies to deliver new product increments through short cadences, collaborating closely with other departments and customers.

The Senior Backend Developer will take ownership of their work, collaborating with architects, QA engineers, and other team members to ensure implementation aligns with Backbase's technical vision and best practices. Backbase uses microservices architecture and modern principles like continuous integration and delivery.

Role involves:

• Contributing to new and existing functionalities.
• Participating in proof of concepts.
• Implementing technical improvements for the Digital Banking Platform.
• Taking ownership of the developed functionalities.
• Collaborating with team members to ensure standard implementation.

Requirements:

• Solid background in software development including design.
• Ability to communicate clearly across all levels.
• Experience with Java, Spring, Maven, CI, and CD.
• Experience with microservices (Netflix OSS is a plus).
• Knowledge of cloud and traditional application servers (WebSphere, JBoss).
• Knowledgeable of relational databases.
• Experience with non-functionals such as security, performance, scalability.
• Solid understanding of Enterprise Integration Patterns.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
