The AI Security Institute is seeking a Safeguards Technical Governance Researcher to join their team in London. The AI Security Institute is dedicated to understanding AI capabilities and risks, equipping governments with empirical understanding of AI safety. The researcher will focus on technical governance relating to safeguards, working closely with technical teams to produce actionable insights.Role involves:

• Ideating, developing, and drafting technical governance research on safeguards.
• Reading and understanding relevant research to ensure governance research is technically informed.
• Delivering compelling documents for stakeholders.
• Managing multiple stakeholders involved in research outputs.

Requirements:

• Experience in machine learning, AI, or AI security.
• Strong research skills, including ideation and independent execution.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience designing and delivering complex written products.
• Red-teaming experience.
• Understanding of large language models and related risks.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to a changing environment.
• Eagerness to support colleagues and prioritize team success.
